Creative Communities - Phase 2 Narrative Questions

1. Why are you doing this project? What community change/s do you intend to occur because of this project?

• What is the project's intended outcome/goal?
• Will the project address any key community needs/issues? If so, describe which needs/issues will be addressed and how you identified them.
• How do the project goals intersect with the goals of the Creative Communities program component to which you are applying?
 o For Arts Education Applicants: The project supports arts opportunities that foster imagination, creativity, and innovation in K-12 formal and informal education.
 o For Folk Arts Applicants: The project enhances the appreciation of and ensures the continued vitality of the folk and traditional arts of Wisconsin.
 o For Local Arts Applicants: The project supports the creation and development of the arts at the local level.

2. ​Describe your project.
• What specific activities will occur?
• Who are the direct participants (artists, adults, children, older adults, audience, volunteers)?
• What type and quality of art is involved?
• Who are the skilled and experienced personnel involved in the project? Please provide a description of their responsibilities in the project.

• For projects in their second or third year, how does this year’s project build on prior years? What have previous evaluation results been and how have they informed this year’s project?​

Provide a detailed timeline of when and where the activities will take place (whether daily or monthly will depend on the project).

4. Describe how the project will be done with the community rather than just for the community.
• Who: Identify the community members and partner organizations (when applicable) that were involved in determining the goals and needs/issues that you described in the first question.
• For projects that are designed to serve the entire community: describe how your organization invites, engages and/or creates alongside nondominant communities* to ensure a positive and meaningful experience with the project, and identify which specific nondominant community(s) you intend this project to engage/serve.
• Design/Implementation: Describe how those involved (including those from any nondominant community(s) identified above) will help design and implement the project. If people from the identified nondominant community(s) are not involved in planning/implementation, please explain why they are not.
*Nondominant communities include but are not limited to people with disabilities, people of color, older adults, youth, veterans, low-income and LGBTQ+ communities.

5. What are the specific strategies that you will use to persuade people to participate directly in your project?
Examples of participation strategies include creative marketing/ communication strategies, pre- or post- performance lectures/discussion, programming in non-traditional venues such as churches, taverns, libraries, etc.

​6. During the course of the project and when it is done, how will you determine if the project is making the change you intended in the community? How will you determine the project’s public value/contribution to your community’s common good?
• What will you measure/observe to compare the starting point with the end point in order to determine the success of the project?
• How does what you will measure/observe relate to the goals for the project that you articulated in Question 1?
• Who will make these measurements/conduct these observations, and how will they do it?
• For projects requesting year 2 or 3 support, what did you learn from the previous year and how does this year's proposal reflect what you've learned?

7. For Arts Ed Projects: How will you assess arts learning for project participants?
For projects in schools, how will you measure the learning that occurs during the course of the project? Please include which specific curriculum standards you will use in determining what learning has occurred. (If the project is integrated across the curriculum, use curriculum standards from all relevant subject areas.)​
