The Wisconsin Historical Society engages the public with the excitement of discovery, inspires people with new perspectives on the past, and illuminates the relevance of history in our lives today.

Programs
The Wisconsin Historical Society operates the largest library in the world dedicated exclusively to North American history, including one of the nation’s most complete American and Canadian
genealogical collections. The Society archives holds numerous collections of national importance, ranging from early American frontier history to late 20th-Century social action movements. The Society
operates the Wisconsin Historical Museum in Madison and a statewide network of nine historic sites that provide one of the nation’s most comprehensive laboratories for the study, appreciation and
enjoyment of Midwestern frontier history. The Society also offers a statewide historic preservation, local history and school services programs.
