FY2019-2021 strategic plan
The Wisconsin Arts Board (WAB) thanks everyone who provided input on our strategic plan for Fiscal Year 2019-2021. The plan will guide the WAB's work over the next three years.
Planning Process:
In July of 2017, the WAB began a broad-based, inclusive planning process to create a 3-year plan that reflects the diversity of Wisconsin, identifies opportunities and challenges, and shows how best to invest resources while deepening capacity, recognizing emerging arts initiatives, and inspiring participation in and appreciation of WI's arts and creative sector.
The WAB gathered input and information using various types of assessment tools: an internal data review, key leader interviews, an advisory committee, on-line constituent surveys, Town Meetings held in Superior, Door County, Ironwood, Michigan and Marinette, Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Superior, Ashland/Washburn, Appleton, Rhinelander, La Crosse, and issue-based forums. From the analysis of the input gathered, WAB developed a plan that includes long-range strategic directions encapsulated in goals and strategies.

Excerpted quote from the Joint statement by Ten Foundations in support of artists and the National Endowment for the Arts:
"We coalesced around a shared commitment to strengthen local communities. And, in this case, we came together because we all understood that artists are a resource present in every community. We also understood that those artists help root us in our communities, help connect us with our neighbors, and help to drive civic participation. Quite simply, we understood that it is not possible to have strong local communities without having a strong arts and culture sector.
If we lose federal agencies like the National Endowment for the Arts, we will not only lose significant direct investments in communities across all 50 states, we also lose the infrastructure that brings us together as one United States of America." Read the entire statement.
