The BEA Publishes New Data on Arts and Cultural Production

​​According to new data released today, April 2nd, 2025, from the Arts and Cultural Production Satellite Account (ACPSA), a product of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)​ shows the arts and cultural industries grew at twice the rate of the U.S. economy, adding $1.2 trillion.

In 2023, arts and cultural production accounted for: 
  • ​$1.2 trillion in value added to the U.S. economy 
  • 4.2% of U.S. gross domestic product
  • 5.4 million jobs
In Wisconsin, in 2023, arts and cultural production accounted for: 
  • ​$12.4 billion in value added to the Wisconsin economy 
  • 2.90% of Wisconsin gross domestic product
  • 95,305 jobs

Most of the arts and cultural industries have exceeded their pre-pandemic numbers for value added; however, several are at or below their 2019 levels.
