Through CC, WAB distributes resource guides to artists and arts organizations via an e-newsletter, and maintains these guides in an online archive. If you think we missed something, or if you have a question, email vivienne.timchenko@wisconsin.gov. If you haven't already, make sure to join our email list to receive CC and other WAB resources!

Community Choirs/Choral Groups/Singing Societies

Choir singing is increasingly recognized for its potential health and wellbeing benefits, with amateur adult community choirs offering accessible opportunities for participation (Bloska et al., 2025). While community singing groups may go by a few different names, they all work to provide a welcoming environment where people can sing in community together and share empowering musical experiences. Most choirs are accessible to all and do not require previous musical experience or an audition to join. Some choirs support specific groups of individuals with shared experiences, health needs, cultures, or religions.

From the Monroe Swiss Singers: a mixed-voice choral group specializing in Swiss folk music, to greenTONE: an a capella group of women without instruments, to the Superior Singers: an entertainment choir based in Duluth-Superior, there's a community singing group in Wisconsin for you. Visit the links below to get involved with or support a singing group in your community. Please be aware that some information in these directories may be outdated, and an internet search for "community singing group" in [your county, city, town, area] may help you find your local community singing group(s) a little bit quicker.

P.S. We also have a Community Bands resource page.
