Wisconsin Arts Board Awards Grant to ABC Arts Group
ABC Arts Group is pleased to announce it was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board (WAB) through their Creative Communities program. Funds from the grant will support the ABC Arts Group’s series of summer concerts and art-making workshops.
The WAB’s panelists noted that the project: connects community members with highly skilled artists who are new to Genoa as well as highly skilled artists who already live and work in Genoa; provides a “safe space” for people who don’t normally get to connect with each other to do so through a creative activity; and engages community members in tapping into their own creativity through the art-making workshops.
The awarding of this grant indicates that the ABC Arts Group’s project does a great job of furthering community development through the arts.
The Wisconsin Arts Board (WAB) receives funding from the WI State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. WAB’s grants help to ensure that arts-related projects and the organizations that provide them, like the ABC Arts Group, will continue to be integral to the quality of life in Wisconsin, and to contribute to WI’s economic vitality.
WAB’s Creative Communities grants encourage arts education, cultural understanding, and community arts development in Wisconsin. They provide support for projects that further the WAB’s goals the following three areas: Arts Education; Folk and Traditional Arts; and Local Arts.
These grants help make the arts accessible to audiences large and small, assisting groups that undertake innovative programming, support creativity and artistic quality, engage their community, inspire curiosity and focus on audience and patron development.
