Winter Work Bears Spring Fruit
For many Wisconsin artists, winter is a time to burrow. The beginning of spring is when eyes begin to blink open, and a nose peeks out from the ground. All at once, this transitionary time is a time to hibernate, to dream up ideas for the upcoming year, to plan new projects, and to tidy the "house" before opening the windows in the spring. While the first day of spring lands on March 20th in 2026 in Wisconsin, April sometimes sees showers, and sometimes sees snowfalls. We are pulling together resources to help artists take advantage of the inner reflection the transition period between these two seasons brings, while offering a few prompts to help bring new perspectives to ideas that may be buried under the snow.
Tidy Your Home
During this down time there are generally less festivals, events, performances, etc. The off season is a great time to tackle neglected tasks. We've pulled together a few ideas of what those tasks may be below:
